Current music:Travis - Why Does it Always Rain on Me?

Sunny days, where have you gone?

I feel so detached. From people, from art, from passion, from motivation.
I've always thought of myself as a warm person, but lately my temperature has dropped.
I am anxious for school to begin. It will throw me into all that I am lacking.

A fairly violent storm is raging outside. How suiting.

It's very likely that I could be feeling this way partially because I want things to feel settled and get back into a routine again, and that includes Rhonda and Carolina being here. But I think it's more than that too. I have lots of friends in the city at the moment but I have been avoiding them all. Not actively, but I have more or less become a recluse, reading all the time. Boo I suck. I hope my mood changes soon.

Maybe it's good then, it's going to be a long ass time before you're able to avoid that shit and not have loads of people and loads of pressure on you. Embrace it I say! You anti social spider!

I think we're all feeling this way a little, Laura. I definitely feel you. School will fix everything, for a while anyway. Hang in there. :)

PS: The storm is horrible. I'm tired of having storms... I wish they would just go away.

Seriously, this summer has been hardcore with the storms, but yesterday evenings storm was really long and harsher than usual. Unless I'm leaving the apartment, I really don't mind them though.

Same here. I was out with my friend Joe and we were in my car drinking Starbucks, and he was amazed at how afraid and worried I was each time we saw those big spider-web-like lightning flashes! I told him "LISTEN! I don't mind all of this when I'm inside a house!" It all gets so scary when you're out...

Being in a car is actually the safest place to be in a thunderstorm because the rubber tires don't conduct electricity, so you're not grounded if the car is hit by lightning. You're not protected if a tree falls on the car however. And thunderstorms scare me because I was in a house that was hit by lightning a couple years ago. Loudest thing I've ever heard, bar none!

I wonder if it's kinda an end of summer thing. I hate the end of summer. I love the fall, but it means winter is closer which is depressing. I really hate that it's already getting darker earlier at night:(

Might be. I've been feeling this way since the beginning of August, so maybe it's an August thing. Once September hits and the temperature starts to cool maybe my spirits will lift. The darker earlier thing bothers me too, though. It's so depressing when it's already pitch black by 5:30pm. Though I am really happy that this school year I never finish later than 5:30pm. It was really depressing and tiring having classes until 10:30pm prior years. I am excited to get into a waking up early routine, so that I may enjoy as much of the daylight as I can.

I think moving is making me feel stressed out or something as well, or maybe just the change in environment, but I am completely out of wack right now!!! I think it's an end of summer thing as well.

Speaking of which, do you know what day you are planning on moving down permanently? I am so excited to hang with you and to have you living close by again, though I know that during the school year it's going to be rare to see each other. Hopefully there will be some nights that we are able to have dinner together, at the least.

Oh, and this is random, but care to help me make a HUGE pot of vegan chili Before school starts? We can split it and freeze a bunch of it. We can also make a large quantity of pasta sauce and soups to freeze. It's my dream to have a bunch of healthy and nutritious food already made before school commences for those evenings of exhaustion when one wants to eat well but has no energy left.

Tuesday sounds good! We can try to get an early start on it if you want. Like, before noon. Do you need any help or company on Sunday? I will totally be at your apartment even if you say no, hah. I've missed you!

august always feels stagnant. I'm feeling kind of the same way; in limbo, waiting for my roommate to move in.

I'm anxious for school to start (though I'm maybe not looking forward to it), and I really want to hit the ground running, but I'm having a hard time building up the momentum I'll need (not to mention having a hard time writing my thesis proposal.. eek!)

thank goodness for that storm, though-- we got hit with (maybe the same?) huge one; I was just leaving value village (about 3km from my place) as the clouds were gathering and flickering in the distance, and I gunned it all the way home on my bike, afraid of getting hit by lightning. I rounded the corner of my street just as big drops started to fall and by the time I dragged my bike onto the porch I was only halfway to being soaked. all this to say, it invigorated me in a way I needed. I changed into my nightie and lit candles when I got upstairs. summer storms rule.

I have to agree, August is a bad month for me too usually. I always put lots of hopes and goals into August, but I always fail at meeting the expectations I had set for myself.

Summer storms really do rule, but only if there's thunder and lightning. I love watching and listening.

Aww, Im sorry. I know the feeling, I was like that all of last fall. But you'll be back to your old self soon enough, hang in there. ♥

Thanks. :)

The phrase 'going back to your old self' is kind of a silly phrase. At least, in most cases one hopes to develop and mature, but that saying is loaded with stagnation. Hm, funny.

Yeah! I think it's because although routine can get borring, humans need the routine.

At work, I found I was concentrating too much on getting the paper perfectly aligned to the paper cutter, knowing no one else cares for that kind of precision. Or taking stamps apart, to see how they work, but also to fix them so that they stamp smoothly. True story. That's when I noticed I kind of missed doing creative things, and maybe it was time to go back to school.

Right now how ever, I am totally distracted by that lj picture you have of the giant cat holding the little umbrella, you know, the one over this comment. I keep looking at it.

Summer storms are crazy. Last friday it was sunny and nice aaaall day long, but when the clock hit 4 o'clock, as soon as I was getting out the door from work, it started raining. It waits for me!

Yeah! That's Totoro. He's a mix of a cat/owl/raccoon. You need to see the anime film, it is ridiculously endearing.

Hah, you do seem very bored. When are you coming back??

Totoro is a great name. I should get a cat that looks like a racoon and call him Totoro.

I finish work the 29th, and will probably go to Montreal that sunday, which is so shitty, since I need to get stuff ready for school. I am tired all ready just thinking about it.
