Current mood: grateful
Current music:Au Revoir Simone - Through the Backyards

3726 Cote-Ste-Catherine, Apt. #10.

It has happened. Philippe, the kitties and I moved into our new apartment yesterday. A million thank yous to everyone who helped out. Phil and I will try to return the favor as best we can when you all need assistance packing, moving, painting or cleaning. This is the summer of moves, it's ridiculous!

We are already feeling comfy here. Tybr was all over the apartment the moment we let him out, but it took Ada hours just to leave her carrier. She seems fine now, though. Our place is currently mostly a sea of open boxes and art supplies, but we did organize the living room this morning.

The living room is so much more spacious than our last one, it's intense!
That opening in the living room leads into a currently messy dinette, and the door to a balcony.

Hee, of course Phil and I had to unpack our movies and xbox 360 first.
There's no art up yet, but that will happen once everything else is organized.

The dinette is a complete mess right now, but I really love the corner windows. The breeze is amazing.

Ignore the clutter, instead focus on the awesomeness of a double sink!!

This is more directed at Carolina and Rhonda: We can see the $2 breakfast restaurant from our dinette!!
We are actually higher up than this photo leads on.

I will definitely be posting photographs of the rooms as they become organized and beautified. Currently all the walls are white. I don't think I'll be painting anytime soon. It's nice having white rooms for once. Plus, art will make this place colourful enough, I think.

As for the apartment in general, it is great! So much charm and character. The apartment is larger than our last which is always a plus, and I love the layout. The bathroom is in a nice private nook of the apartment which is such a wonderful change from the last, which was right beside the entry way and living room. The wood floors are far sturdier and creak 90% less than our previous place too. It has higher ceilings, the walls are also far thicker and I have not heard the neighbors yet. All the windows have a ledge, so the cats are happy about that, heh. Also great for plants!

There are a few cons, though. We have carpenter ants, but I believe a total of six or so have been spotted and squished immediately, so it's nothing uncontrollable. We'll just have to be more careful with food and whatnot. Another con is the noise. Cote-Ste-Catherine is a semi-busy street, but Cote-Des-Neiges is far louder and we are almost on it as well. There is also construction going on across the street from our apartment. Luckily our bedroom is as far away from the street as it can be, and I also have an uncanny ability to tune out noise once I become used to it [heh, just ask Phil, I do it with his voice a little too often sometimes].

Overall, I am very happy with our new apartment. I cannot wait to make this place feel like home completely.

And now to clean the kitchen!

Happy Canada Day!

Thank you! It is rather awesome, though I forgot how much work it takes to get an apartment in order, hehe.

I think that people with dishwashers wouldn't have too difficult a time living with a single sink. Phil and I made it fine with a single sink for two years, and we did all the dishes by hand. It's tougher but not impossible. Double is definitely far more pleasant, though!

Oh, haha, yeah. We transported the cats from the last place to this place by vehicle. We only have one carrier so I decided to put Ada in it since she freaks whenever I try to take her outside the door normally, and Tybr loves going outside, so I put the kitty leash on him. In the van the carrier was on the floor in between my feet and Tybr was in my lap. Phil's mom was driving and missed a bunch of turns because she was watching Tybr meow hysterically like a little pansy. I was more fearful for Ada who was dead silent. I was so scared she'd gone into cardiac arrest or something, haha. When they were inside the new apartment I locked them in the bedroom and opened the carrier. She didn't leave it until there was a mattress up against the wall, and hid behind that. When we put the mattress down she hid back in the carrier until everyone was gone, so for hours. She seemed so traumatized, but when it was just us she got out and started purring her anus off on the bed. It wasn't until midnight that she saw most of the apartment, whereas Tybr had already been around the joint 20 times over by that point.

Wow, that was a long explanation for not.

haha aaw what a sweetie, GOD I LOVE CATS!

I think both of our cats are quite brave. Like they are jumpy, but still so curious/adventurous. When Amanda and i moved into our apartment, Chaussette dealt with the move no problem! It was crazy cause you always hear about cats having difficult times with change. And then when Jetson moved in, he was ready to explore everything.

WOW awesome!
I can't wait to see your new place! It's totally amazing how you can see the 2$ restaurant. I just had a little Seinfeld moment and can't help but notice the similarity of its red blocky font. MAN! I think that is our place, now we just need our very own table there, and we can do our normal witty conversations.

It's all looking very cool! Hope to get a chance to see you and your new place soon!

Wow, you're right! It really does look like the Seinfeld diner font. Awesome! I cannot wait for more unhealthy $2 breakfasts to take place there, and when we are feeling especially rich, at Chez Cora, hah.

Neat! I was wondering if you had moved already. The new place looks great.

Have you eaten at this $2 breakfast? That sounds both tempting and suspicious.

We have indeed eaten there, too many times, in fact. For $2 you get two eggs, two toasts, home fries, three slices of bacon OR two sausages OR one slice of ham and a coffee. Very tempting indeed!

As far as Montreal apartments go, I wouldn't categorize it as little, hehe. And luckily our bedroom window is not on the street. If it were I would die from the noise, probably!

Yeah, there is a bunch of closet space, and the best part about our storage is that we have a storage locker in the basement as well, which is great for us since we have so many canvases.

I hope to take advantage of the balcony! I want to buy a mini bbq and grill everything, hee.

We only moved three blocks away from our old place, but the location is so much more central for transportation and for stores and restaurants.

The directions google map gives is for driving because of all the one way streets, that's why it's a little roundabout.

As if you have a double sink.

I'm glad the move went well! I've never helped you guys with like, anything, and you have done so much for me. I'm sorry I wasn't there for the move.

Also, we should eat more often at the $2 breakfast place. You are super close, so you can easily take an emergency shit.

Aw yeah! Super catch up date sounds great! I miss you too! Just let me know when you are available and I will try to accomodate. I am unemployed currently, so I am very flexible, though I am starting to think that helping others get their new apartments prepared and moved into is becoming a full time job, though one that I am fully happy to help out with. Today I'm helping Emily (Cloutier) and David paint and move in! I am excited to see their place!
