Current mood: hot
Current music:Au Revoir Simone - The Lucky One

Through the backyards of our neighbors.

Cold showers, groceries, laundry, procrastinating, eating blueberries [only $2 per crate!] and pasta salad basically sums up my day. It rained for all of ten minutes which was horribly disappointing, especially considering the epic build up to it. I cannot believe it reached a high today of 40°C! It wasn't this hot five days ago...right? I'm not crazy? Helloooo, global warming.

I discovered a band called Au Revoir Simone today. Three ladies from Brooklyn, NY. They are really catchy, and appropriate to listen to on hot days. Though not my favorite song, I enjoy this music video of theirs. The palette is so enthralling to me. Their overall aesthetic, both audio and visual is very alluring.

I feel bad for the cats, who can only hang out near open windows, lay on the wood floors and lick each others ears to cool down. I gave them some wet food, at least.

Now I am off to douse myself with cold water.

Very cool band, I enjoyed that video. And no, you're not crazy, I was thinking just the same thing about how it wasn't this disgustingly, unbearably humid & hot only a few short days ago. *sigh*

Whenever I am in China town in NYC again I will look for them for you! It is more likely that you will go there before I do, though. I can try looking around in the China town here in Montreal.

aaw you guys don't have a/c either? I feel ya. I feel so bad for the cats too:( I might get a portable air conditioner.

Were there any tornadoes in your area? There were near London. Right before i went to work, i looked at the weather network and there were all these tornado warnings and i started flipping out cause i had to go out and drive. Too bad it barely rained on the drive haha. But when i was at work, there was a torrential downpour + hail, but also not long. It really looked like a tornado was coming though:S Then there was a huge-ass rainbow and sunshine. Then the darkness returned. This weather is FUCKED.

I love blueberries! But last time i bought them they were sour:( I should just buy local. They were from some far-off country.

Also i find it really amusing that Jetson keeps lying under the toilet where there's a shitload of condensation so it drips all over him:) It probably feels good.

Yeah, last summer we were really close to buying a portable a/c, but even those ones need some sort of vent to the outside world, and we didn't quite feel like making a hole in our window screens of anything, since we'd be the ones to have to replace it when we move. Maybe in the next place we'll invest in one.

Jesus! No, we did not get tornado warnings here. I suppose since we're an island and a very populated one with lots of tall buildings it's far more rare to have tornadoes touch down.

There is a surge of blueberries here currently. It seems that a lot of the Quebec crops were ready to harvest at the same time. And Quebec blueberries are super tasty and sweet!

hmm i'll have to look into the portable a/c more. My dad made it sound like it'd be no problem. I wouldn't want to be replacing screens if we left though:S Mind you we might have to anyways cause the cats have put some holes in them haha.

I think i'm dealing with the heat better than last year though. I basically just need to be wearing as little clothing as possible in the apartment. And i don't put clothes on for work until 10 minutes before leaving lol cause seriously as soon as i put on clothes, i'm sweating my anus off.

If you find a portable a/c that doesn't need some orifice to the outside world, let me know about it!

Hah, little to no clothing is definitely a good plan. And a fan. And a popsicle. And lots of water.

Yeah I'm in South Carolina right now and it was 101-106 degrees yesterday, which is about 40 degrees, and I was under a car changing oil! Hah. Not even including the humidity x_x But yeah. I'm thanking my host very much for the AC.

Why were you the one changing the oil? Kina the mechanic? Actually, I can imagine that quite well. You in a thick strapped white tank top and a bandana on your head to keep your hair back. Oh, and delicate oil smudges on your cheeks and top. ;)

the weather here has been rather schizophrenic of late. on sunday it was bright and sunny for two hours and then biblical rains and then sunny and warm again. we were under tornado watch all last night. George Bush tells me i'm very happy with weather like this because asking if it's due to global warming emboldens terrorists

"biblical rains" = best term possible.

It's been rather schizo here too, though I wish it would get with a cold front or something. That or I jut need to buy an a/c.

ALSO. "Crate" sounds like a lot! I'm def jealous.

Cats really don't take baths?
(Please enlighten the cat doofus.)

By crate I meant decent sized plastic container. It's about two bowl fulls worth of blueberries, which is a pretty good amount.

It is not recommended that you bathe your cat very frequently. Doing so lowers their immune system significantly because it takes away a lot of the necessary oils on their coat and skin that protect them. Indoor cats really don't need to be washed unless they get dirty, and I suppose on that logic it makes sense to wash an outdoor cat from time to time since they go god knows where. Most cats really also hate to be wet, so washing one is a huge undertaking. Phil and I only washed Ada once, when we brought her home from the SPCA because she smelt like the shelter, and even though she was only the size of a potato back then she was a handful. We do not dare wash Tybr as he is a huge cat and would probably bite and scratch us to pieces. If we ever need to get them washed we plan to take them to a groomers, hah.

Hope that has enlightened you somewhat!

It rained SOOO hard though. There was even some hail, it was awesome.
I guess I'm kinda lucky, my place faces away from the sun most of the day,
of course as soon as I leave the building I get whacked in the face
by a wall of humidity. Usually I am sweating by the time I get to the bus stop.

Eek. Well, only part of my place faces the sun in the morning, and luckily it is not our bedroom or the kitchen. And because of the design of this place, there's a really good current of air that goes on if we keep the windows open.

Where about do you live, again? Off of Cote-Des-Neiges, right?

Wowww, that is really close, like a ten minute walk.
We should totally hangouts or something then.

P.S. regarding your food blog:

Heehee, one of the perks of a paid account is editing comments.

PIG'S FEET GUY! Neat!

And yes, hanging out will need to happen. Phil and I will probably start doing a weekly movie thing again, you are invited to that, just so you know. Last year we were making our way through the 50 top dystopian movies. I'm not sure if we'll continue on that list, but whatever we do, it'll include quality movies. Rhonda and her roomate Carolina also live close, and Phil's sister and our friend Kim are moving nearby too. Cote-Des-Neiges is the place to be at!
