the century is raging ~ but so are we

People come and people go. There are very few people I still click with from my childhood or even teenage-hood. It's not how long the relationships last that matters though, it's the experiences and the impression that each individual has left on me, for better or worse. And I, on them. My second year at Concordia has come to a close, and with it many people are leaving my life forever, possibly. I realize this sounds a little dramatic, but it's what seems to happen. I can't help but feel down about this reality.

Despite the fact that people often leave, one amazing friend who I have kept in touch with for over a decade is Taigan Penny. She is currently in Brockville Ontario, attending the St. Lawrence College, enrolled in Musical Theatre. I visited her there last year, and this year Phil came along too. She has an incredible group of friends who are intelligent, talented, genuine and beautiful. Every time I visit I feel as though I could have known these people forever. It saddens me that I see them so rarely, but at the same time they have already inexplicably impacted my life.

Small town, not much choice where to live.

At Zellers.

In Taigan's washroom.

Ashley and Matt.

Marko and Taigan. Marko is such a great person who deserves a better hand than what he has been dealt.

Did I mention how talented Ashley is? Check out her myspace to hear the music she has composed and recorded.

These next few are from my digital camera. The difference between film and digital is startling.

Darling Taigan.

Meghan playing frisbee. This girl has abs of steel, but is a softy inside. So kind and sweet.

Taigan, Marko and Matt watching unmentionables on the internet, hehe.

Thought the sunset was pretty. Yeah.

I feel I have a lot of major entries to make here. They're coming soon.

the film ones have such a great ambiance to them, ah! the depth of field in all of them is amazing. i know a group of people sort of like taigan's that i don't get to see very much but i love them all.

The DOF also just has to do with the lens, which has an aperture of 1.4, whereas my digital can only open up to f5. But even if I had a better lens for my digital I think the results would still be vastly different. There's just something about film that digital cannot compare with.

Took me a while to realize how you got level with the buildings at that height.

The mirror photo of you is awesome because it looks you like you should be in the photo because you're so close. Awesome mirror.

Meaghan floats when she plays frisbee.

The glow of the swatches onto the ceiling is great.

Haha, especially because I seem to love making the most out of the depth of field abilities of my manual. But digital also lacks that wonderful graininess.

Oh wow, I really need to start (continue?) taking pictures with my dads old camera, everything seems prettier through a lens.

Its kind of sad, but just true, its the way life works. Its also good though, to know that even if people arent in your life anymore, that they were once a part of it, and did make it better, more intresting, more worth living
:)

I love the condiment (?) sized shopping cart.

We just officially started digital printing in my photo class and while it is handy, it's just so frustrating. Sounds weird but I like analog so much better because the results are so much more reliable!

What do you mean by digital printing?

Oh man, it is the most awesomesauce wall ever. I actually thought of you too, because it was so bright and happy. It's such a good alternative when you're not allowed to paint. You should totes do that to one of your walls in your current apartment!

So true that the difference between your digital and film pictures is huge. Both are gorgeous though :)

Every year I seem to lose a big batch of people in my life as well, but I think it's for the better. It's sad that it has to come to this, though, you're right about that. Oh well, life goes on I guess... !

It certainly does go on. It is sad, I mean sometimes it's because of circumstance, as people move away and whatnot, but it's unfortunate when people are unreliable or never available, and never seem to be able to make any time for others.
