Happy Winter Solstice!

I hope everyone is having a warm, enjoyable vacation!

My Christmas actually started on the 22nd, with Phil's family coming to Montreal since both Phil and his sister Jenn work on the 25th.

The most amazing Christmas present was the large area rug and padding that Phil's family gave us!

Tybr is always in the middle so...

...we temporarily stored him and Ada in the neighbors now empty apartment.

The living room is now so amazingly cozy, warm, soft and silent. Hooray for no creaking!

Christmas Eve vegetarian dinner!

Jenny.

Jenn wouldn't stop moving, hehehe.

This is the reason we were bundled under a blanket. I swear the t.v. wasn't green though.

Christmas morning with the Jones' is always a little ironic since they are Buddhists.

A closer look at the gifts shows us that Tybr is in the middle again!

Ada Bear looking like she owns the place.

Philippe being a little Elvira-esque with Ada, haha.

After the gifts there was some much needed relaxing time.

Apartment catz!

Down time after an epic breakfast.

At around 12:30pm we left to go to Gatineau. Phil's family was kind enough to give me a drive to my mom's apartment.

I feel this is a significant aspect of my trip. Cheese? No, grated butter!
Christian, my older brother, thought it was a block of cheese and grated it for using on nachos. It fooled me as well, but thankfully he was there to laugh and then inform me of the truth.
It is actually really great for spreading on toast and eggos, though. New invention?

Christian got two tattoos! This one [100 points if you can name the font] and a semi-colon on his left wrist.

This is where I have been sleeping.
That night Christian and I watched Paris, je t'aime. It was extremely enjoyable..

On the 24th I spent my morning wrapping gifts and drying dishes.
At noon I woke Christian up by taking too many photos of him.
I made sure to stay out of arms reach.

We picked up our grandma before going to my mom's family xmas party. This is her new tabby, Angel.
Maybe I'm just bias, but I think Adelaide is way prettier.

Photos from the party. I am drinking mulled wine and it was fantastic.

My uncle Paul showing my aunt Nancy his photographs on the covers of magazines.

When we got home we decided to open gifts since Christian had work the next day.

Enough Febreze to last me a lifetime! WOO!

Younger brother Alex admiring his first adult wallet, hehe.

We go to my aunt Colleen's on xmas day for dinner. This year was kind of hilarious because dinner turned out to be a complete failure.
The turkey, despite having been in the oven for 7 hours was still half raw. And the gravy was grossout.
The dessert was excellent, anyhow.

My grandfather today. He now lives in a home because his Alzheimer's is too advanced. Today was the first time he left the home since he got there six months ago.

A surprise gift from my cousin Jordan! Usually I look really dead wearing green, but this sweater looks decent on me. I was surprised and impressed.

My aunt's tabby, Kit. My holidays have been full of cats it would seem.

And my adventure doesn't end here! Tomorrow I will be busy shopping with surprise money and gift certificates I received and seeing a bunch of friends. So very possibly many more adventurous photos to come.

On the 27th I go home. I miss Phil bunches. And the cats. And Montreal.

This whole page took me 30 minutes to load.

Everything looks great! Phil's mom doesn't look how I remember her. Also, that green sweater is awesome!

Urgh. I can't wait to go back.

Wow...30 minutes...you love me!

I am back now and it is glorious! I look forward to yours and Carolina's return!

Phil's mom may not look like you remembered because her hair was much shorter. She has allowed it to grow out some and I think it makes her look younger!

omg; those are kind of amazing tattoos. I hope he's a big typography nerd :)
I'm putting out three guesses/approximations-- I should know that font!
century gothic
gill sans light
verdana

those are all wrong. that serif on the i is throwing me off! so cute!

+ <3 this post. lovely photos! I want to do my own holiday picture post.. but my camera battery died and I left the charger at my toronto place! rats!

Hahaha, aww, I am sorry but we actually DO NOT KNOW what font type it is! Christian is not so much a typography nerd, but a writer and film nerd so he was mainly interested in the aesthetic to match the meaning of the word. Unfortunately [and rather stupidly] he forgot the name of the font so I was hoping someone would be able to name it. This is what Phil says further down:

My research finds this to be the closest font:
http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/btn/calamity-teen-btn/lt/

I believe the serif on the "i" is an addition, as that simple serifed "i" and the single storey "a" never seem to occur together. They must fucking hate each other.

aaw lovely:)

What's that book Sit Down And Shut Up about?

That's hilarious about the butter!!!!!!! And that the dinner sucked.

That's really great that your grandfather could come out to your Christmas.

How far away are you from Montreal? I mean when you're in your apartment.

The book's about Buddhism, from the same author as Hardcore Zen. I'm not sure if I liked that book or not. It was an entertaining read, I suppose.

We live in Montreal.

Ah nice. Amanda and i had this far-fetched idea to go to Montreal for New Year's to see a band called Crystal Castles. What are you two up to for New Year's? Probably the only way we'd more seriously think about going there for New Year's is if we had a place to crash. Any chance you'd be around?

There is so much to comment about that I am overwhelmed and will just say that that kitty is cute, in a kinda ugly way, and that that sweater does indeed look very good on you. Because you're so hot.

YES, cute in a kinda ugly way describes it best I think. I mean, of course she's adorable because she's a teeny little kitten, but she's not going to be anything extraordinary as an adult.

Your photos are incredibly beautiful!

- Your apartment looks sooo cozy, I just wanna like, lay down on the new carpet floor and play with your kitties. Woowowowow. :P

- I think I've said this like 78 times already but your family is so adorably pretty! You're all so good looking, damn you!

- What are the significance of your brother's tattoos?

- Your TV is HUGE and I am incredibly jealous!!

- Angel is adorable, I want a cat just like it!

- You're so cuteeeeeeeeee

OK enough babble commenting from me loool.... :)
Merry (belated) Christmas!

Hehehe.

- I want to do that same thing!!

- Haha, thank you. Though I find my father's side more beautiful than my moms, as horrible as that may sound.

- My brother watched a documentary where they took water bottles and on some of them wrote things like "you are lovely" "Beautiful" "i love you" and on others they wrote stuff like "get lost" "you are worthless" "i hate you". Over time the molecular levels of the waters changed. The water in the negative bottles even turned brown in some, while the water in the positive bottles were perfectly clear and fresh. I mean, this experiment could have all been fabricated, but Christian figured that if he were to get a tattoo, it better stand for something good. Eunoia, aside from being the shortest word to contain all the vowels, and one of the most rarely used term means of well mind.
The semi-colon is so that he can write how he is feeling before it, like "restless;" and also because it looks cool!

- Haha, it's Phil's t.v. He went a little crazy last November. Not that I'm complaining, because I LOVE watching movies on it.

- She's adorable, but I don't think she will look spectacularly pretty when she is an adult. I'm super shallow when it comes to cats. Hah.

- Thank youuuuuuuuu

Wow, that experiment seems really interesting! It would be cool if it were true, haha... well I love his tattoo, the one you showed :) I'm sure the semi colon looks awesome too.

My dad just bought a similar TV. It's quite overwhelming, I'm not used to it, but damn is it fun!!! Hahaha!

that documentary is called 'what the bleep do we know', by the way.
also, eunoia is a book of poetry by christian bok, also. a wordgame of sorts where each section; 'a' 'e' 'i' 'o' 'u', constrains itself to the corresponding vowel. it's a dizzying read.

i.e.
"Writing is inhibiting. Sighing, I sit, scribbling in ink this pidgin script. I sing with nihilistic witticism, discipling signs with trifling gimmicks - impish hijinks which highlight stick sigils."

also, jeff fyfe fed christian bok acid once.

and the semi-colon is a far more personal meaning than that, actually.
